Product Information

Sodium metabisulfite (chemical formula: Na₂S₂O₅) is a high-efficiency inorganic chemical with strong reducing properties, widely used in food preservation, water treatment, textile printing, and pharmaceutical industries. It usually appears as white crystalline powder or small crystals, with a slight sulfur dioxide odor; it is easily soluble in water (aqueous solution is acidic) and soluble in glycerin, but insoluble in ethanol. It is sensitive to air and moisture—easy to absorb water and oxidize into sodium sulfate, so sealed storage is required.

• Reduction Potential: Sodium metabisulfite has strong reducing properties and can be oxidized to sodium sulfate (Na₂SO₄).

• Acidity: It exhibits weak acidity and can react with bases to form salts.

• Thermal Stability: Decomposes at temperatures above 150°C to release sulfur dioxide (SO₂).
